Why We Built Prim Stories
We’re on a mission to make reading more fun and family bonds stronger. Story time once meant family bonding, but now families are more distant, busier than ever, and struggling to find quality time together. Families that, despite the distance and busy schedules, nurture a love for reading and maintain strong family ties, will raise the next generation’s success stories. We imagine a world where every morning trip to daycare is reading time with grandma. We imagine stories where our sister, brothers, parents, are the main characters. We imagine reading time where grandparents, aunts, uncles, and parents are always able to lend their voice to a story. We are building a world where each of us can choose the voices that read to us, and we welcome every reader to join us.

How Prim Stories Work
Prim Stories is a reading app designed to make reading more fun for young readers and brings families closer. This page describes how we do that in detail. It's a lot of text, but if you're here, it's probably what you're looking for.
What Makes Prim Stories Special
Full Cast Audio: Prim Stories create full-cast audio experiences. Instead of a single narrator reading the entire story, we use different voices for different characters to create an immersive reading experience! This is one of the things that makes Prim Stories unique. Behind the scenes, we transform a written narrative into an audio play with assigned speaker roles.
Personalized Voice Imitations: We use AI models to imitate real voices, including loved ones. It means that grandma, uncle Jim, or a dear friend are always available to lend their voiceto a story. Further, voice imitations speak over 30 languages. Bilingual child but monolingual extended family? No problem.
Personalized Story Writing: In our app, adult users can create full stories (assisted by our AI story writer) that feature the reader and the people they care about most. With a loved one narrating, and others voicing their own characters, we can create a heartwarming and engaging reading experience.
Interactivity: Our app is designed to feel like there is a storyteller sitting next to the reader. That means it is interactable. To start, we have a contextual dictionary where users can ask for the spelling and definition of a word, and get a definition in the context of the story, explained aloud by the narrator. Overtime, we plan to add question gating (solve this Math problem to move forward) and story branching (choose your adventure) among other things.
What stories do readers get access to?
Personalized Library
A reader’s personal library is full of personalized stories. These stories' audio narration and character voices are performed by loved ones’ voice imitations. The stories themselves can be adapted stories from the Prim Library, purchased in our Book Store, or written by the account owner.
Free Prim Library
The Prim Library is full of stories written by the Prim team. There are dozens of stories that take place in many different worlds to inspire imagination and entertain. Join young protagonists like Nova, the astronaut; Arthur, the knight; Luna, the fairy; or Jack, the pirate as they face challenges and learn important lessons.
How does the Personalized Library work?
Subscribed users can spend monthly credits to create personalized stories. There are three different ways.
Adaptation: The easiest way is to adapt our content. Take a story collection (up to 8 stories), select which people you want to star in the story, and we'll recreate it just for your reader.
Original: Upload your own story or set of stories, select which people you want to voice characters, and we’ll produce it from there.
Professional coming soon : Explore our store where professional authors publish their books. Select your narrator and assign voices to voiceable characters, and we’ll produce it from there.
More On the Free Prim Library
Our Free Prim Library has dozens of hours of content made up of 3-6 minutes stories.
Stories are 3-6 minute long audio tracks that come with a word-tracking e-reader app. Each story is set in a World and is associated with a Theme.
Worlds are the settings and characters of the stories. In Space Explorers, the setting is traversing through space on spaceships with Nova, a young girl astronaut; Commander Star, the grizzled veteran space commander; and Robo, the talking robot dog. There are also worlds set in Pirate Island, Fairyland, and Medieval Kingdom.
Themes are the underlying lesson that the story is trying to impart. They are often interconnected and lead into each other. For example, a story about Healthy Eating, precedes one on Hydration in our Health and Wellness Collection.
Collections are categories of 8 stories. The stories within each collection are internally consistent, build upon each other, and teach related themes. For example, our Emotional Growth collections starts with Building Self-Esteem and Trying New Things before ultimately reaching Dealing with Jealousy and Managing Anger.
